Started GOPIO Chicagoland Chapter in July 2001 & helped launch initiatives for Senior Citizens.

An India Development Initiative


Founded GOPIO.Connect in July 2003 — an India Development Awareness Project for Indian Diaspora


Worked as President & Board Member, Health & Happiness Inc. (Chicago-based NGO) from July 2003-05. During the tenure, provided financial support that implemented rainwater harvesting projects in Jaiselmer district of Rajasthan. Also supported initiatives for clean Ganges initiatives in the world’s most ancient city, Kashi.

Published a thought paper on India’s Groundwater Development at Kellogg School of Management in January 2005 — gave a public lecture on it at a summit organized by India Development Coalition of America (IDCA) and the recommendations on crop selection were shared with Ministry of Agriculture.

Launched India’s first mobile version of Britannica encyclopedia, Oxford dictionary & Complete Bhagavad Gita in JUly 2007 to help fill library gaps in rural India.


Organized a think-tank meet "GOPIO summit on Education" in New Delhi in January 2008. In photo with Keynote speakers— Mr. Sam Pitroda, Chairman National Knowledge Commission and Dr. Y.S. Rajan, scientific advisor to the Prime Minister.


Launched a digital learning portal for Indian Army in January 2010 – Project Kshamta to help improve communication & IT skills of soldiers for better employability post retirement. More than 30,000 soldiers have been trained so far from the program.

Introduced Teacher Training program as part of Microsoft India’s Giving Campaign in November 2011 —the idea is to  impart digital training to teachers who can then introduce computing to the needs of specially-abled children.


 Co-founded Microsoft Accelerator for startups in May 2012 - first of its kind by any technology company in South east asia  to help new age entrepreneurs from India innovate and realize their potential on world stage.


More than 50 startups have been mentored - many are now successful business.

Lectured students on innovation at few universities - IIT, IIM and ISB


Partnership with Andhra Pradesh government to understand and predict student drop-outs which help design relevant interventions to bring them back to school (also cited in World Economic Forum, Davos)
